I love to walk and I saw this pair of Sandhill Cranes in the Garden Lakes Community. They are a large bird standing at a height of around 5 feet. They can be noisy at times, but this is how they communicate with their mate and warn of danger. This species typically mates for life and they seemed pretty compatible to me. Ha ha! They lay their eggs in April or May. The male and female work together to build the nest. After the nest is finished, the female lays 1 to 3 eggs. Their offspring stay with them for about 9 to 10 months.They are a protected bird in Florida.
